How do I learn the basics of aircraft engine parts online? My friend is a pilot, and had 2 years of training. He is currently in basic training, but when he comes back, we'll build a biplane together! However, I think I should learn at least the basics of aircraft engine. I can not find a site with a detailed diagram of how a jet engine. I perfe it was free, and not an online class or something. Thank you!
Try this link to Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aircraft_en ...
If you're going to build a biplane, the engine is more than likely going to be a radial engine, which is an engine in the form of a circle. Here's a link for that too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radial_engi ...
Also, if you have questions that are not covered, you can ask me. I am an airplane mechanic and I am specialized in aircraft engines.
Why would you know? This day and age, I would not ask that question. Report Abuse
sportys.com try and buy the book, or two places aircraftspruice.com very pleasant to watch
It depends on the type of engine you plan using. Is a rotary engine? Or four dishes? Most of the aircraft engines are very similar to car engines. You pistons, connecting rods, valves, camshafts, the starter, and fanbelts carburetors. You can try the site "How it works.com.
Try different searches with different words, as the engine of the Cessna, Volkswagen, etc.
You can come with many different research of this kind.
Next find a small airfield near you, see if you can find a mechanic willing to help.
Then see how to contact the air forces of the Confederates, they fly older aircraft in air shows.
so if you have questions im an aircraft mechanic (A & P), just send me an email and I can help you with almost anything or answer your questions
Most manufacturers use of aircraft or an aircraft engine or a motor car which has been slightly modified to use an airplane (the biggest concern is being cooled by air). To this end, this site has lots of information and videos on aircraft powerplants ... http://www2.tech.purdue.edu/at/courses/aeml/
Are you intereted in the construction of an aircraft or an aircraft engine?
Excellent site for just about how the thing works: www.howstuffworks.com
If you are looking for basic operations, howstuffworks.com is a good choice as indicated above. As an experienced pilot and mechanic, I would recommend making good friends with a local, certified aircraft mechanic. Anyone with an Inspection Authorization, would be even more useful because you'll still need some certifications and approvals before they can fly, even if it is experimental. This is a project that will be a little more complicated than the construction of plastic kits snap together so he did as a child, or even an RC plane. Remember that you will put your life in your hands, then make smart decisions in depth. Never cut corners ... ever.
