What are the differences between ATV and motorcycle helmets? What are the fundamental differences, and what are the reasons they are different?
In a pinch, a bike helmet can be worn on a bike, or is the protection it offers somehow unsuitable for motorcycle?
Thank you!
ATV and motocross helmets almost all the chin of the helmet. In addition, most off-road helmets will not flip a face-down, but rather a non-mobile (snap-on/off) bill for sun protection, and a side opening large enough to accommodate standard off-road goggles. Some also offer neck protection, or at least snap-on points for them.
Many motorcycle helmets have chin, but the opening of the visor does not easily goggles if they do. The visor is usually a type flip-up/down which is close to airtight to help keep the wind speed much higher than you encounter on the road. Some have variable air vents because of this almost hermetic seal.
Other types of motorcycle helmets do not protect the chin, or face helmets and are called open. Although these will accommodate goggles, they do not protect the face against an offroad needs of debris and branches, etc.
Even if a full face motorcycle helmet work for both purposes, it is easier to replace a scratched eye visor scratched.
...... Same
I wasn't aware there was a helmet made for a different bike.
I raced motorcycles and ATVs, and always used a helmet and never had any problems.
Maybe some bike helmets have a different design to allow for different glasses to be used?
