Hi, I own an auto repair shop with 6 bays General in New Jersey. You do not specify a new or used parts. I had very good luck finding difficult to find or obsolete parts on the Internet. Regarding the BMW parts, I would start by looking for clubs BMW in the search engine Yahoo. Most sites have a club page with links to parts and accessories.
More generally, I look on Ebay, after that I usually put a search on www.junkyarddog.com This site is a network of recycling facilities throughout the Midwest and West Coast. You give them your address and what parts you need. You will receive an email from any sites that have your parts. It works really well. I used to find the body parts at once and mechanical parts. I hope this helps.
