Car Scratch Polish

I have some deep scratches on my car I will not settle until two weeks from now, and I was told by a friend they could rust quickly in cold weather. I have to drive somewhere and now its freezing and rain, would it be safe to put some clear nail polish as a temporary cover on zero until I can get them repaired?

Go there its great to maintain moisture. To help prevent rust. But wont last nearly as long as the paint. A temp. fix at best.
