Diesel Exhaust

Posted on June 12, 2010.
Diesel ExhaustGot new line of diesel exhaust without catalyst: Is it worse for the environment?

I have a 2006 Silverado 2500HD with the Duramax 6.6L diesel. I recently upgraded to a turbo-back exhaust system, which apparently has no catalytic converter. Where am I this is legal, but I know that the converters are there for a reason. How much difference do they really do? If I feel really guilty of environmental destruction and return to the stock exhaust?

If you are concerned about the environment you would not be driving a truck anyway, or a diesel that. Do not worry, because the exhaust is probably your truck more fuel efficient. Burning less fuel is the best way to reduce emissions.

Diesel catalytic converters do not thats why they are more fuel efficient. Diesel engines are designed to produce more torque at slower rpms cat converter makes it difficult to do. The converter uses the engine's energy to heat the gas more exhaustive than 1500 degrees. Diesel burns much cooler and does not emit the same pollutants than gasoline. thats why it is not necessary for them to have cat converters.

I feel bad. u do know that most of the major platforms that exist on the road all day and night do not have catalytic converters.
