Diesel Fuel Pump

Posted on June 25, 2010.
Diesel Fuel PumpWhat is the average age of a fuel pump in a diesel engine?

I read on the internet that life expectancy was about 100K miles for a diesel pump. Is this true for some of the latest Mercedes and BMW? I had plenty of cars that have well over 100K miles without problems, then wondered if it was reliable or not.

There are many factors to the duration of a fuel pump will last. If you receive fuel from the fuel station is clean, if a filter before or after the pump are few. But you never know how long it will last. I have had vehicles that a fuel pump failed at 21k miles, and others who have 180K without pump problems.

Yes, but remember its equipment mechanical / electrical device which is surrounded by fuel, you can not really put a specific time limit, she could die at any moment, but 100k is average.
