Mercruiser 454Mercruiser 454 hit?

I have a 454 with a mercruiser volvo 290, I just pull the engine and outdrive I replaced the bellows, gimble bearing, all ujoints parts.I normal replacement stock will have that shot or rattle I checked everything I can think of, but it sounds like it is coming in form the bell. any help would be appreicated. thank you

it depends was it making that noise before or after changing these parts, if later, then somthing together wrong, or I check if you have a shot at the bottom end of your engine or just somthing noise around loose in the engine compartment of a boat can travel noise and get rid of where its coming from so maby try to refine stethascope where it came from.

check the drive out of alignment with the engine, it requires an alignment tool.make that everything fat.

If you look at where the tree will outdrive thoughts on the hull for the engine, you will see a large round on ... say 3-4 inches in diameter. This is called a gimbal bearing. replace it and keep it greased a couple of times a season and you will not hear it. Have you checked the u-joints when you've had before?

Is this a Mercruiser or Volvo? Valves exhaust valve can cause a rattling noise, especially at idle.
