Is it safe and practical to do your own brake performance? I was looking around because I need new brakes on my car and I noticed that the only difference between the normal brake discs and brake performance is that performance has holes drilled in them. I know it to dissipate heat and gases that build up during braking. Is it possible to buy plain rotors and slap on a mill and make your own holes? Is there a kind of model you would have to follow? And the number one question, how would it be safe?
NO
This is not because they "look" as the only difference is the holes, they can be made of a different alloy material and therefore different from the tensile strength and / or heat dissipation.
Do not play with the brake system.

I know that the regular Dr. Roters engineired by grade of specsand Roters strentgh which means I would not recommend they do im certifeid ase mechanic in this part
Do not do it, it is not safe at all and the following will happen ......
The final result will be:
Rotors crack the suffering of the constraints created by the holes.
Many bits dull.
Horrible vibration, unless you get balanced rotors thereafter.
Brakes that fade more quickly due to the decreased mass of iron.
Pads that wear out faster because of the shearing action of the holes. Although this will keep the glazing gaskets ........
