Pick Up owners! If there is no roof, etc. cover / on the bed of the pick, what happens? We bought a L200 (2001) that had a lid (which I hate and do not want) and my husband does not want a roof on this issue so we are at an impasse, but he tries to force me to have the cover on the bed saying goes rusty! I just want to know how true this is, sounds a bit there for me, as if was rusting, it would mean the recovery while the same would be rusty as "matter" outside also yeah? So in my mind it wont rust, no more than what is a normal rate!
I do not mind putting the lid on tempory until we can find a shrink, but im thinking we need a second one hand that the news may be way out of our price range .
Having the solid cap removes the point of having the truck for us personally, we want to be able to just jump in and take our dogs with us and if we have to fidget around to remove the solid cap before starting ensure the dog cage in the back ... well im thinking the dogs will not go further than the local park !!!!!!
The only compromise is that we get one of those retractable cover, but all I found so far looks like its ony new models from 2006 to 2008 that have those available! I need to take more time looking for it, but if someone can point me in the right direction?
Finally, the paint in the bed will indeed be chipped and will rust. You can avoid this without getting a "cover". Take the truck and get a spray in bedliner. This will protect the bed of paint chips and rust.
why do not you have a tarp that attaches to the strings?
easy to get on and off does not take up space and is much less expensive than solid
sounds like a win win situation for me!
powerblocktv.com had a nice they put on a truck they said fit and can be used any.lockable partway.folds completely.
the habit of sleeping imediatley rust as there are drainage holes, so it will not rust if water gets into a scrape or chip, but that occur anywhere on the car! I think it takes you a little crazy!
that to obtain retractable covers have a scout around on ebay or go to your local Mitsubishi dealership and ask them if they know anywhere or could you give a
The bed will eventually rust, like the rest of the pick, but there are some things you can do to prevent this. First, as silly as it sounds you need to wash and wax the bed with a good quality car wax.
Then you might consider making the bed and rubber coated side.
Ja.
Try summitracing.com jcwhitney.com or both have a full range of truck parts.
Get rid of the lid because it retains moisture in the bed. Your dog will love the wind in bed.
You will also get better gas consumption without the lid.
My brother bought a shrink for a 08 F150 for $ 700.
Yes solid lids are unnecessary, but the bed will not rust if it is in good shape.
The best way would be spraying the coating (Rhino) I do not like the shift in the type, the things they drag. Canvas work but they are a pain.
Come on - think. The bed is open to the rain and the painting will be damaged by the loading / unloading.
Bare Metal and rain / water = corrosion.
The way I'm on mine was rotted through painting the entire area of the bed with a type paint sealant, then mount a plywood base.
I leave mine open and when it rains I cover the drainage holes and use it as a pool
