Smoked Tail Lights

I recently took off the black paint off my tail lights as I heard it was illegal. I'm looking to buy the lighthouse and smoke tail light film and apply them to my car. Is it legal or illegal?

It is illegal. These items are for show, do not use the street. If they were legal, you can buy them when you bought the car. Head and tail lights must be visible at a distance, day and night.

That probably depends on how they are smoked and the amount of light is still not be considered legal or illegal
