Does anyone know what Dodge truck that the military used for the M880 series? I have a 1977 Dodge Truck M880 series, and try to find parts to fix it.
"Dodge has been provided under the government's bailout of American Chrysler. They had 24 volt electrical systems and were powered by 318 cubic inch gasoline engine. The CUCVs were an attempt by the U.S. military to use COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) vehicles with minor modifications in non-combat roles. These programs are designed to replace the M37 Cargo Truck and Cargo Truck M715 and related variants. Around 1973, Dodge started developing the M880 series trucks, which were militarized adaptations of their current model 4x4s. These trucks were not known as CUCVs at the time, but were in use for many years. They had two failures, engine gasoline and 12 volt electrical systems. The electrical system was addressed by upgrades if necessary, but the gas engine was a fatal error at a military increasingly going diesel. "
This is the Wikipedia entry I found.
