Welding Beds

Welding Bedsbedsteads

Although not really in the definition of a bed frame, most people include headboards, footboards, and bed rails when speaking of bed frames. Head and footboards can be wood or metal that is stained, painted or covered with fabric or leather. Bed rails are usually steel angle iron.

While most bed frames are constructed to have a headboard attached to them, they are generally not welcome steps, unless you buy a particular type of frame that has attachments to both ends. For beds with head and footboards, the frame consists of bars that are attached to the headboard and footboard with slats positioned perpendicular to the bed rails to hold and support the mattress and mattress or foundation.

bed rails and frames are often linked to post-bed using fittings.A knockdown knock-down mounting system allows bed to be easily disassembled for removal. Primary knock-down fittings for bed rails as follows:

  • Fixing Pin-and-hook. A slot is cut vertically in mortiseor the bedpost. Pins are inserted horizontally into the bed post so that the pins perpendicularly intersect the mortise. For example, if you looked into the mortise, we could see a portion of a horizontal axis at the bottom of the mortise and a portion of a second pin to the top of the mortise. The brackets are installed at the end of the rail. Usually, these hooks are part of a plate which is fixed on the rail. The hooks are then inserted into the mortise-post bed and a hook on the pins.
  • mounting plate and the hook. Instead of pins inserted horizontally into the column bed, eye plate (plate mail) is installed on the bedpost. The brackets are installed or welded on the rail bed, either surface mounted or recessed. Depending on the hardware, the bedpost may require a mortise to allow hooks to attach to the plate. This is also mentioned as a fastener hole of the lock, especially if the connector is more of a "cap" of a "hook".
  • Bed bolts ("through bolts") are another means of connection knockdown. A hole is usually drilled into the bedpost. The bolt head is inset and covered with a cap. In the rail, a nut stud or other type of nut receives the bolt.
